The Shannocks March On

The Reds travelled to Cambridgeshire

To play March at The Lane,

The wind was calm, the sun was out

And cleared up had the rain.

The Hares were in outstanding form

A real tough nut to crack,

But Sheringham looked confident

And big Nelly was back!

The Shannocks – looking fast and strong

Their passing neat and slick,

Caused great eruptions in the stand

And went up one-nil quick!

After a melee in the box

Remaining sharp and cool,

With ease, Nelly, rustled the net

But next up: the ‘crown jewel!’

Andrew Hubbard at right back had

Been classy from the off,

And at his long range pass, Zidane

Himself would never scoff!

He pinged it pinpoint from his half

Then Nelly, what control,

And great flick over the keeper

A truly world class goal!

The Shannocks bossed the first half, and

Could have scored number three,

Through Nelly’s driving run and shot

And when Cox let one free!

After the break the Reds played well

The game seen out in style,

Bird tipped a long strike round the post

To boost his clean sheet pile!

The Shannocks march on, what a win;

A super Nelly brace

And top class team performance put

A smile on every face!

Next up we face the Marketmen

To Bloomfields we will go,
