v Fakenham Town (away) 24/9/19 – Thurlow Nunn League Cup First Round

A gloomy Tuesday evening saw

Us travel in the cup,

And just before kick off the rain

Heavy – would not let up.

The match was even, the ball zipped

But chances: very few,

And right before half-time The Ghosts

Began to turn the screw.

A penalty was hammered home

And then – after the break,

A long free kick caught Birdy out

And chances, more, they’d take.

At four nil Crosby pulled one back,

A very well placed shot,

The hosts scored number five but then

Big Nelly took a pot!

A thirty-five yard free kick flew

Past Gammon in their goal,

But in defence we need to lift

Ourselves out of this hole.

It’s Downham Town on Saturday

A tough game it will be,

A point at home would be a boost

But we shall aim for three!
