Downham visited The Rec
The rain, erratic, fell,
And sadly, using strength and skill
The home side they did quell.
It wasn’t long before they scored
They were not scared to shoot,
Their second strike a cracker with
The outside of the boot.
It looped over Birdy with ease
But our lads got stuck in,
And looked to pull one back before –
All hope leapt in the bin!
On half-time a free header saw
The Town add number three,
And every single Shannocks fan
I think would here agree:
The league leaders were far too strong
And quicker than us too;
Another brace was added soon,
Through our defence they’d chew.
A Coxy header at the end
Was saved right on the line,
But in defence – we must admit
There is a warning sign.
We were outclassed throughout the match
Next week shall tell a lot:
The Castlemen from Framlingham
Are sitting second bot!
A good result in Suffolk will
Of this, I have no doubt –
Restore some confidence and spray
