The Reds awoke in style,
Although – for all cogs to turn fast
It did take quite a while.
The Shannocks started brightly, but
Against the run of play
Felixstowe took an early lead,
Then Rogers said, ‘I’ll play!’
He smashed home from 25 yards
Top corner his shot flew,
And then without a single doubt
The Reds’ confidence grew!
Remaining 1 – 1 at the break
The lads returned on fire,
And with a quick one-two Cary’s
Finish was to admire.
Ben Boyce – the workhorse – bagged the third
His strike beating the bar,
And Abbott – who ran his heart out
(A Shannocks superstar)
Burst through and finished cool, with ease
The keepers’ hand: too weak,
And shortly after, Tim Cary –
A hat trick he would seek!
His second thumped the net and there
Was still time to add more,
But next week at home to Cornard
We’re ready – that’s for sure!
