A crisp afternoon at The Rec
Saw Shezza back on track,
The unforced errors and mishaps
Were both given the sack!
Although the Wanderers began
With supersonic speed,
They missed a pen and hit the bar;
Then, at last, took the lead.
A through ball caught defenders out
The strike – not very grand,
But sadly it still found the net
With help from Jacko’s hand.
The Shannocks tried to equalise
But no goal would arrive,
Until the second period
When The Reds came alive!
A debut for Smith off the bench
Helped turn the game around,
The Shez controlled the second half
And soon were three points bound!
Smith’s magic feet and classy chip
Allowed Boycey to shoot,
And burst the Ipswich keeper’s net
With laces of his boot.
With fifteen left the Shannocks climbed
Another ladder rung,
And soon after the visitors
At last were truly stung!
More passing, neat, allowed Crosby
To drill one hard and low,
Causing all home fans to erupt –
Dish out the killer blow!
On Tuesday C.B.S. visit
Let’s hope to cause more trouble
And beat the Norwich side again,
An excellent league double!
