v King’s Lynn Town Reserves (away) – 30/11/19

In scarf and hat weather we roamed

To Wisbech, to the west

In search of points against the Lynn,

Another tricky test.

The Linnets started well, although

Chances we did create;

But keyless were us Shannocks and

Padlocked was their floodgate!

Jacko would make a decent save

But soon, again, we’d need,

To step it up another gear

As King’s Lynn took the lead.

An own goal put the hosts in front

(Which overall was fair),

And just after the hour we

Were in need of a prayer!

The Lynn went two up, but the Reds

Should have pulled one straight back,

Somehow Kerry, deep in the box

Gave netbusting the sack!

Boycey looked good when he came on

Goals would, though, still evade

Yet Cary (Shannocks goal machine)

To shoot – was unafraid.

The bar rattled – and then, at last

We scored with five to go,

Tim Cary adding to his list

But up the game would sew.

It’s three defeats now on the trot

But fear not, do not weep,

The Castlemen visit next week

And the faith we will keep!
